Niku is an AI art collective that explores the world via generative algorithms. The neural networks that we use have been trained on the corpus of all human knowledge on the internet and thus they have a compressed understanding of the world we live in.

Our mission is to build sculptures and installations that make AI more accessible and understandable - to give AI a physical shape and presence in the real world (and not just a screen).

Niku was founded in the Fall of 2022 by Erik, Serge, Anna and had since expanded to a team of artists and engineers, starting from around MIT Media Lab and beyond. We are passionate about building a larger community of AI 'art hackers' in Boston area to work on fascinating new angles in search of the artistic connection between us people and the AI.
